What makes your tours different?

At Boutique Traveler we believe in personal stories and intimate experiences, that’s why we only operate private tours. Our guides are knowledgeable and entertaining storytellers who are also passionate about photography. Throughout the tour, your guide will direct you where to stand and what to do, to ensure you get the best possible photos that will last a lifetime. And here’s the best part – the photos are included in the cost of your tour!

Each tour is specifically crafted to suit you, with a balance of history, culture, humor and genuine enthusiasm. We will show you some major tourist sights, coupled with up with a selection of hidden gems. You’ll explore secret alleys, venture into buildings and discover places that even the locals don’t know about.

All guides have completed a comprehensive training program including first aid certification to ensure that you’ll be treated professionally before, during, and after your tour.

How long in advance should I book?

We suggest you book at least a week in advance, although we will always do our best to accommodate last minute requests. The ideal time frame to ensure you get YOUR preferred time/date is at least 4 weeks in advance.

If you are booking for a larger corporate group (over 20 guests), we require a one (1) month lead time.

Can I pay with cash?

No, bookings must be made online prior to your tour. Except for tips/gratuities, our tour guides do not accept cash.

The following credit cards are accepted for payment: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.

What is the minimum and maximum number of guests allowed?

All of our tours are private and therefore, we do not have a minimum requirement. If you are a traveling alone, it will be you and the guide. Prices are fixed for one (1) to four (4) guests. If your party is larger than this we can still accommodate for an additional per person fee.

How long is the tour?

The minimum itinerary length of a Boutique Traveler private walking tour is two (2) hours with longer itineraries running for three (3) hours. If you’d like to extend the time with your guide, additional hours may be purchased, either by contacting us after booking or during the tour (where availability permits).

Do I need to be physically fit?

Most of our walking tours are suitable for people of all fitness levels. In fact, we have had 70-year-old guests who have breezed through our tours!

Some of our tours can be physically demanding and travelers must ensure that they are suitably fit to allow participation. We are able to provide details on mandatory health requirements; however, we are not medical experts.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are physically fit to participate. Any physically demanding tours will be clearly marked in the ‘Walking Difficulty’ section of the tour page.

Do you have any age restrictions?

While many of our tours permit all ages, the minimum age requirements may vary based on the itinerary. Please see the tour description to check whether a tour is child-friendly. For tours featuring alcohol, travelers will be required to show proof of age.

All travelers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian, or in lieu of a legal guardian, by an escort over the age of 18, appointed by their legal guardian. The legal guardian or their designee will be responsible for the traveler under the age of 18.

Where does the tour start?

Our tours are customized to your needs so the start and end locations will vary. Where possible we will arrange to meet at your hotel lobby. If this is not feasible a designated landmark will be chosen. The precise meeting location will be clearly outlined in your confirmation email with instructions on how to get there.

What should I bring with me?

Even though your guide will take photos of your experience we suggest bringing a camera of your own. Please ensure that you pack any prescriptions you may need and snacks in case you get a little hungry along the way. Other than that, all you need is a great attitude and a thirst for adventure.

What should I wear?

It is very important that you wear comfortable walking shoes. We also suggest layering your clothing as the weather can be very varied from neighborhood to neighborhood.

Be sure to wear clothing appropriate to the current weather conditions (ie. rain or cold). Make sure to bring a light windbreaker regardless of the temperature.

What happens if it rains?

Our tours will operate in most weather conditions, including rain. If the weather is deemed too extreme and unsafe (e.g. lightning, flooding etc.) we will notify you and make arrangements to reschedule. If we are unable to reschedule, a full refund or credit will be provided.

What if I'm running late?

Please call or text your guide if you are delayed. If you arrive late, keep in mind that your guide may have another tour booked soon after, which will affect whether your tour can be extended (although it’s always possible, so please ask!).

We suggest arriving early and even having a drink nearby so you don’t begin your experience in a ‘rushed’ state of mind.

What if I need to reschedule?

No problem! We understand that thing happen. Just advise us by email, text or phone in advance of your tour. Please see our terms for fees relating to changes and cancellations.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made more than 48 hours prior to travel are eligible to receive a full refund; Cancellations made 48 hours or less prior to travel are non-refundable, and no refund will be issued.

No refund is provided for any unused portion of a tour, including the entire tour in the event of a no-show.

Can I extend my tour time while on tour?

Sure! If you are having a great time and your guide has availability we can extend your tour on the spot. Your guide will also be able to suggest and book any additional tour itineraries we offer at the conclusion of your tour.

Do I need to tip my guide?

Tipping is optional, but if you had a great time, your guide will certainly appreciate any gratuities based on their “performance”. The price of your tour does not include gratuity for your tour guide. The tip amount is at your discretion, but as a rough guide, consider giving 10-20% of the tour price.

Will there be restrooms available on the tour?

Yes, we ensure there is access to a restroom on all of our tour itineraries. Your guide will check regularly but if you need to go, do not hesitate to ask.

What's included in the tour price?

Each private walking tour includes:

  • Your own professional guide with photography
  • Bottled water for each guest
  • A minimum of 10 edited photos from your experience (based on a 2-hour tour)

What is NOT included in the tour price?

  • Food and drinks (other than bottled water) unless stated
  • Gratuity/Tip for your guide
  • Any items or souvenirs you wish to purchase
  • Entrance fees (unless stated)
  • Transport to/from the designated meeting/drop-off point
  • Travel insurance (we recommend taking out a comprehensive policy that includes personal effects, medical, and cancellations)

When and how will I receive my photos?

We will send you a link to your private online gallery within five (5) days. On your gallery page, there will also be a button to download a compressed file containing all high-resolution images from your tour.

Will you share my photos online without asking me first?

We may share a photo from your tour on our social media without mention of any names. We encourage you to tag yourself and share with your friends and family as this helps others discover our tours.

We fully respect your choice. If you prefer to keep your photos 100% private, they will NEVER be posted publicly on our site of social media.

Your gallery will remain private and will not be indexed on boutiquetraveler.com. Any photos you see on our site are from guests who have given us permission to share their photos online.

What happens if I get sick or injured while on tour?

We ensure that our guides are trained in first aid and able to provide assistance in the case of an emergency. By making a booking with us, you agree to our terms granting indemnification from any claim of liability.

It is strongly recommended that you purchase a comprehensive travel insurance policy with medical benefits.
