Details

Walking tour not really your thing? Do you prefer something a little more vigorous and outdoorsy? If so, this is the tour for you. This 3-hour hike takes us along the coast of San Francisco from the Golden Gate Bridge to Ocean Beach.

Be sure to wear comfortable running shoes or hiking boots as we’ll be covering some uneven terrain over the roughly 4 miles (6.5 kilometers) trek.

Starting out at the gateway to the bay, we’ll have the chance to explore the Golden Gate Bridge. Hear about the ‘halfway to hell’ club and why you might, or might not have, wanted to be part of this exclusive group of men.

As we make our way south towards Baker Beach, you’ll see examples of how the geology has changed due to the many faults in this part of California. Be aware, we might spot a nudist or two!

We’ll journey through the Sea Cliff neighborhood, filled with multi-million dollars mansions before heading through Lands End towards Sutro Baths, our penultimate stop which was once the largest indoor swimming pool in the world.

This tour is perfect for anyone with a decent level of fitness wanting to escape the city’s hustle and bustle and get back to nature.

I really must say that it was one of the best days of my entire trip and really opened my eyes to what a fabulous city it is.

If I could give it 6 stars I would! My husband and I have visited San Francisco several times and wanted to do something a little different. Michael took us on a fun hike starting at the famous bridge and all the way down towards golden gate park. We stopped at a nice beach and walked through a fancy neighborhood too. We had a great time and will take another tour next visit.

Michael is a great guide and introduced us to interesting and unusual places and facts. Even though it rained we had a fun afternoon - a tour not to be missed and a we got a workout too!

Great way to spend an interesting afternoon in the city, a well spent 3hours! I'm traveling on my own and this is definitely better and funnier than going around with my book by myself. Thank you for an interesting and enjoyable tour, and thanks for the great pics. I would recommend it to anyone!

If you're looking for a really fun way of discovering San Francisco, then The Boutique Traveler tours are for you. I'd been to San Francisco once before but my husband hadn't and I can say these tours were a great taster to the cool areas of the city. Mike has got a really interesting insight on the history of the city, as well as great tips on local hangouts. We did a couple of custom tours - a walking tour around Baker Beach up to Golden Gate Bridge (which was actually a great way to get rid of jet lag after a long haul flight!) as well as a foodie and shopping tour around the city. Great recommendations on restaurants (hit him up for the name of the Mexican restaurant near the Castro - lunch there was amazing!) and great coffee....and even some cool recommendations for vintage shopping (a positive for any lady!). Overall, for or us, we wanted to explore the city like locals and we really felt like we did that. Definitely recommend if you want to get an awesome introduction to such a wonderful city!

Michael had excellent communication with my husband and I beginning with scheduling the tour and then being in contact when we experienced time and transportation issues prior to meeting with him. He had great knowledge of the San Francisco area and we enjoyed his casual and inviting conversation as we walked about the city. I give him huge kudos for the amount of miles he walks with his customers...we are big on walking about rather than driving (so we can see more scenery and explore places) and was pleasantly surprised that he never got winded! I highly recommend him for both tourists and those who are residents and would like to learn a bit more about their own city.

We started off with the Golden Gate Bridge being covered by fog which was crazy to see, then it was a decent hike along the coast with so many interesting stops along the way. If you want something a little more active this is the tour for you!

Michael gives you a unique and up close experience with the bay area. You will visit and learn about parts of San Francisco you didn't know existed. This isn't your typical tour but an adventure!

Whether you are in San Francisco for a brief visit or a full holiday, do not miss the opportunity to take this tour. There is so much more in San Francisco than I realised, much more than The Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Michael was absolutely incredible, he gave us a lot of interesting information about the town and history, also showed us the best spots for eating and drinking. I highly recommend this tour to everyone. Thanks Michael.

I wanted to do something active and this hike was the perfect choice for our family. The kids enjoyed the stories and it was nice to see a different aspect of San Francisco without the crowded streets.
